Seismicity of Kamchatka

Kamchatka peninsula & global plates tectonics       The level of seismic activity near the coarsts of Kamchatka, Kurile islands and NE Japan is the highest on our planet. In the area of Kamchatsky Bay and Kommander Islands, the boundary between Kurile-Kamchatka and Aleutial arc is located, which repersents one of the most interesting tectonic junctions. The most acute junction of deep-sea trenches and also the powerful Kluchevskaya volcano group are located here.
The catalog of regional and local events is compiled based in the data of regional seismic network operating since 1961.

Service of fast reports

The duty of the service of fast reports is to process the data on occurred significant earthquake and obtain its location and magnitude within 30 minutes from its occurrence. As significant, all events with M>4 around Petropavlovsk and all events with M>4.5 over entire Kamchatka are considered. The results are sent immediately ti the institutes that require them (civil defence etc).
